In good financial times, and especially in financially challenging times, as we've seen with the COVID-19 pandemic, funding for infrastructure projects is a critical factor in project success and in whether a project will even move forward. WK Dickson realizes this and understands our client's needs when projects are being developed. For this reason, we have focused on identifying and becoming familiar with various available funding opportunities and how to successfully leverage local resources to secure grants and low-interest loans.

At WK Dickson, we pride ourselves on being experts in the "art of funding." This expertise in obtaining funding for a wide variety of infrastructure projects, from water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, to parks, streetscapes, and airports, is a part of what has made WK Dickson so successful for nearly a century.

When we begin to develop a project with a client, we first identify the sources and timing of available funding to plan the project in a manner that not only meets the client's needs but also allows us to maximize the amount of funds that can be secured.

"With guidance, support and direction from WK Dickson, we have been able to complete $15,391,673 worth of work of which $10,961,507 was in zero or very low interest loans and $4,034,000 in grants/principle forgiveness received through funding applications prepared by WK Dickson. This effort allowed us to be compliant with the first AO and reduced our SSOs greatly."

Terry Shelton

Public Works Director, City of Eden

“Most recently, Tom and his WK Dickson team have found some funding opportunities through ARPA and The Golden Leaf Foundation. Just last week, we were thrilled to hear the news that with the help of WK Dickson, the City of Albemarle was awarded a $250,000 Golden Leaf Foundation grant for Flood Mitigation Planning.”

Ross Holshouser

Director of Public Works, City of Albemarle

"With their involvement, the Town of Elizabethtown has accomplished great things. We are a stronger community because of the assistance that WK Dickson has provided us."

Eddie Madden

Former Town Manager, Town of Elizabethtown

The City hasn't had the opportunity to seek grants or loans through the Division of Water Infrastructure in over a decade. WK Dickson's knowledgeable staff provided exceptional guidance for choosing the appropriate projects, guiding us through the application process and timely submission. Without their knowledge and experience the City would not have been able to secure the $5.4 million dollars in grants for two important projects.

Leslie Carreiro

Assistant Director of Water Resources, City of Asheville

“Finding solutions to your infrastructure problems will never happen if you can’t find the funds to pay for those solutions. The team at WK Dickson is the best at locating state and federal grant funds for all types of infrastructure projects. Their grantsmanship has made a tremendous difference for our small town.“

Al Leonard

Town Planner, Town of Tabor City

"Over the past decade, the Laurinburg-Maxton Airport has been fortunate to partner with WK Dickson. They consistently go above and beyond in pursuit of funding for our water and wastewater infrastructure projects. We know that we can call on them anytime, their level of support is truly unmatched. This partnership has been extremely beneficial to our facility through the services they provide. We cannot recommend WK Dickson enough!"

Seth Hatchell, NCAP

Assistant Director, Southeast Regional Airport Authority

"With WK Dickson’s help and that especially of Angie and her colleagues, North Charleston Sewer District has been able to secure funding for various Capital Projects. This is critical for the District to make sound fiscal decisions for our customers while maintaining our high level of service. We look forward to future coordination with WK Dickson as North Charleston Sewer District continues to find new and attractive ways to fund our Capital Improvement Program."

Phillip T. Sexton, MBA, PE

Capital Projects Director, North Charleston Sewer District

“I have been impressed with W.K. Dickson’s ability to find multiple funding avenues for our projects.  I attributed this to their many years of working with the various funders and be able to demonstrate successful project implementation with very little to no cost overruns.  If it was not for W.K. Dickson bridging multiple revenue streams the City would still be struggling with our EPA Consent Order.”

Steven “Flip” Hutfles

City Administrator, City of Lancaster
