Randall Parkway, City of Wilmington, NC

Improvements included widening to accommodate another lane of traffic in each direction, a 10-foot wide multi-use path (bikes and pedestrians) on the south side and a sidewalk on the north side consistent with the City’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan Initiative. A portion of the project consisted of a five-lane section with dedicated left turns at intersections. The remaining consisted of a median divided four-lane section. Also included in the project was the preparation of a Categorical Exclusion (CE) document for NCDOT, which evaluated impacts to businesses, wetlands, and endangered species, as well as noise, air, and archaeological impacts. Traffic signal upgrades were designed for two intersections.
