New Cargo Facility, Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport
WK Dickson provided engineering design and construction phase services for a state-of-the-art new cargo area. The new facility is designed to serve Boeing 747-800’s that are frequently operating at GSP. The firm planned the site to accommodate up to nine 747-800 parking positions. The airside development includes a 60,000 square yard concrete ramp and a taxilane connector tie-in to the existing parallel taxiway “L.” Landside development included a rough graded pad for a future 200’x800’ building and a vehicle parking lot that was developed with a variety of users in mind. Work also included the extension of Gateway Drive to the warehouse building with streetscaping and driveway access to the vehicle control gate. Stormwater best management practices were used to accommodate additional storm runoff from the new impervious surfaces.
