VIDEO SPOTLIGHT: Greenville Branch Stream Mitigation Project

April 25th, 2018

In order to construct an airfield improvement at Spartanburg Downtown Memorial Airport, nearby stream mitigation was required by the US Army Corps of Engineers. This mitigation project not only allowed the City of Spartanburg, SC to realize the mitigation credits required, it also allowed the City to beautify an older area of downtown by restoring Greenville Branch to its natural conditions. This project included natural channel design that fosters healthy aquatic habitat, and regenerative stormwater conveyance design techniques to establish a pool/cascade sequence for grade control through a steep section of the restored channel.
