WASTEWATER

No one wants to live in an place that stinks, is full of deadly bacteria and cannot support aquatic life. That's why communities build wastewater treatment plants and enforce laws against the release of raw sewage into the environment.

There is no room for error when facing the engineering challenges presented by wastewater and sanitary sewer projects. WK Dickson understands the permitting process, the unique construction process, and the special design issues surrounding these environmental projects.

We understand the importance of operational reliability and the client's commitment to serving the community well. Our approach is to form partnerships with public agencies in ways that help them achieve their goals.  Our success is measured in our clients' cost savings, improved operations, and meeting of regulatory obligations.

Our wealth of experience in plant design, wastewater disposal, and water reclamation means we'll hit the ground running.  We've done it all, from facility planning to treatment plant operational enhancement.

The Chicago Tunnels and Reservoir Plan (TARP), comprises 93 miles of machine-bored sewer tunnels 9–33 ft in diameter. By the end of this year 109 miles of tunnel are expected to be complete.

The Stickney Water Reclamation Plant is the largest wastewater treatment facility in the world. The Plant serves 2.38 million people in a 260 square mile area including 43 suburban communities in Illinois.

The National Pretreatment Program is a cooperative effort of federal, state, and local regulatory environmental agencies established to protect water quality. The program is designed to reduce the level of pollutants discharged by industry and other non-domestic wastewater sources into municipal sewer systems.
