Awards Keep Rolling in for WK Dickson

WK Dickson has learned we have received the Honor Award for Engineering Excellence from the Georgia Chapter of ACEC for our work on Peachtree Ridge Park in Gwinnett County, Georgia. This massive park project serves as a shining example of why Gwinnett County won the 2008 Gold Medal Award and was recognized as being the #1 Municipal Park System in the Nation.

At 155-acres, this amenity-rich county park is perfectly located and equipped to serve the recreational needs of the community with sites such as football, baseball, and softball fields; basketball courts; open play; ADA access baseball field and trails with sensory overlooks as well as passive trails that are woven into the fabric of the hardwood bottoms that were preserved on half the site area.

This project represents all the challenges and successes that an infrastructure firm could ask for: the demand for preserving the natural woodland areas, steep terrain for site and grading considerations, sensitive water quality and quantity controls, mass traffic access with consideration to existing neighborhoods, and state of the art ADA aspects for all to enjoy.

Engineering Excellence is an annual design competition provided by the Georgia Engineering Alliance and held in conjunction with Engineers Week. Engineering Excellence recognizes engineering achievements demonstrating the highest degree of merit and ingenuity. Entries are rated on the basis of uniqueness and originality; future value to the engineering profession; social, economic and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfillment of client/owner’s needs.
