David Pond Appointed by Governor Easley to Board of Examiners

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- WK Dickson announced that David L. Pond, PE, Executive Vice President/COO, has been appointed by Governor Mike Easley to serve on the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. This appointment is in recognition to the outstanding service David has given to the engineering profession throughout his career.

The North Carolina Board of Examiners is the governing body responsible for administration and regulation of the professions of engineering and land surveying in North Carolina. The Board reviews applications, administers examinations, licenses qualified applicants, and regulates the Professional practice of the licensees throughout the State.

A graduate of North Carolina State University, David has been part of the engineering industry for more than 25 years. He joined WK Dickson in 1985 as an Associate and quickly grew into the role of Executive Vice President and later Chief Operations Officer.

David has been active in PENC for many years having served as Treasurer, President and National Director among other roles in recent years. He also received the PENC Presidents Award in 2003 and the Engineer of the Year Award in 2004.

In addition to PENC, David has served on various committees and in leadership roles in other state and national associations including ACEC/NC and NSPE. He has been the President and National Director of ACEC/NC and was awarded the ACEC/NC Golden Eagle Award in 2007 – one of the organization’s highest honors. He was also part of the NSPE Southeast Regional Leadership Council and the Membership Committee.

Outside of the engineering industry, David is extremely active in the community. He has served his church as a Sunday school teacher for more than 10 years, been Chairman of Every Member Canvas and the Stewardship Committee. In addition, he was Co-Chairman of “This One’s for Ben” 5-K race which raised over $80,000 to establish a 4-year scholarship to UNC for a deserving Mecklenburg County high school student.
